E poi c’è la terra

E poi c’è la terra is a small picture book with a great text that reflects on many things: on the divisions, the individual and collective responsibilities, on the uniqueness, on the diversity, the wealth of a few and the poverty of many. In short, this book speaks about our Earth-Planet that we have loaded with injustices, leading to a bitter conclusion: and then there is the earth, below, where the differences we’ve created don’t exist. The abstract illustrations are made of cloth, threads and colored papers, by Giulia Ceccarani, illustrator and designer.

Fare figure

The illustrator and artist Pia Valentinis shares with readers, children, teachers and young artists her experiences: her working method, her way of observing the world. In order to create a book, it is essential to know the technics, and to have the abilities to tame eyes and hands, afterthoughts, moments of despair, new beginnings, doubts about the way to follow.
The book begins with a brief description of the tools and the technics (pastels, collage, photos, watercolors, embroideries...), knowing that technics, style and size can radically change the final result.
